Hospice Care Week

It is important that everyone within Hastings and Rother, and beyond, has access to great quality end of life care, that’s why St Michael’s Hospice is delighted to be supporting Hospice Care Week from 10th – 14th October 2022. There are a number of ways you can support too! The Hospice have lots of fun, family friendly and engaging events coming up to help raise vital funds, such as the November Coffee Morning, Pumpkin Trail, Christmas Markets or you could try your luck and join our Hospice Lottery for £1 per entry, per week!

It is estimated that each year 100,000 people don’t receive the care they need at the end of life, and that some groups miss out more than others. People from LGBT+ communities, people of colour, people experiencing poverty and homelessness, and people in prison are just some groups who are more likely to miss out on good end of life care.

Hospice Care Week, organised by Hospice UK, highlights the dedication of over 200 hospices across the UK, who provide the best possible care for those living well with dying, death and loss. St Michael’s Hospice provides a number of different services for the community of Hastings and Rother including, Wellbeing services, Hospice Community Outreach, In-Patient care and Bereavement services.

At St Michael’s Hospice there is a great team of employees that work above and beyond to ensure patients receive the best possible support for their needs. Jo Devlia, Community Nurse Specialist, said: “I enjoy supporting all individuals to live comfortably in the community, whether that be in their home, a care home or preferred place of care.”
