Pets as Therapy volunteer
Brief info

I’ve been volunteering as a PAT dog for 4 months, my owner was thinking of becoming a Ward Volunteer, so I thought I would volunteer at the Hospice too. My previous owner was cared for by another hospice before she died, and we spent a lot of time together when she was ill. I really like meeting new people, making them happy and being stroked.

l come to the Hospice once a week to visit the In-Patient Unit and Wellbeing services. I’m told l’m very soft and silky to touch, so l get stroked and fussed over a lot - which l really like. I think l remind the patients about their own dogs, as they tell me stories about their dogs and pets. The Hospice is a very friendly place to be, all the patients appreciate the volunteers, it’s always a positive experience.
